A Slippery Slope: What lube is best for you?

What are you into? Are you a fisting queen? Do you like using toys, or just plain old missionary? Whatever it is, you’ll probably need lube to do it. Luckily for you, the sexperts of Pure for Men have compiled a comprehensive guide to know which lube is best for you and when.

Silicone Lube

When it comes to longevity, Silicone is going to be your best friend. Silicone is known to go for long periods of time without drying out. The types of intimacy that Silicone formulas are best for are penetrative anal sex, mutual masturbation, shower sex, group sex, fisting, or play with non-silicone toys. We recommend trying our own Silicone Lube. It has both the longevity mentioned, is hypoallergenic, condom compatible and engineered to have a stain-free formula. With our Silicone Lube, sex can feel great, last long and keep your sheets clean. The only time we don’t recommend using Silicone Lube is when you use silicone-based toys. Because they are the same compounds, Silicone Lube can degrade the shape and texture of Silicone toys.

Water-based Lube

Water-based is another great option. We would say that this is your bread and butter of lubes, classic and timeless. Our formula is hypoallergenic, condom compatible, and non-sticky. If you are partial to a more natural-feeling lubricant, we recommend trying out water-based. Water-based is also great for using on localized areas, and is often reported to have a much easier cleanup as it doesn’t spread much. While our water-based formula is very long-lasting, in general water-based lubes tend to dry a bit faster than silicone or oil-based formulas. The upside to this is that it can easily be reactivated with spit, which can be extra stimulating in the bedroom. The types of intimacy we recommend for water-based are penetrative anal sex, shorter sexual sessions, mutual masturbation, group sex, and play with all types of toys.

Oil-based lubricant

The final type of lube we’ll talk about today is oil-based lubricants. These are great in a pinch and can be found in probably every house. The ones we recommend are coconut oil, olive oil, and cocoa/shea butter. These have a slick, smooth feel, generate heat with motion and are great if you like a nice shine on your partner during sex. Oil-based lubricants are the most optimal for sex that is very sensual and involves massages. Picture a back rub gone penetrative. Excluding olive oil, these kinds of lubes are great because they moisturize your skin on top of lubricating your hole. The risk for these, however, is that they most definitely will stain your sheets, are greasy, non-toy compatible, and not condom-compatible.

Lube should be on everyone’s bedside table. With it, sex lasts longer, feels better, and reduces the risk of tissue tearing. Whether you need it for anal sex, toy play, or even just masturbation, it’s truly a game changer. If you are currently in need, take a look at our sex collection to see our in-house selection of high-quality lubes for a great price.
